-
- Single kayaks carry one person; tandem/double kayaks carry 2 adults
- Canoes carry 2 adults and one child (if canoes are available)
- The same goes for river tubes, all only hold one person, except for tandem tubes, which hold 2 adults (no children)
-
We typically open at the beginning of May and run through the end of September. In rare cases depending on the weather, we may be able to open earlier or remain open later.
-
- RFRR operates when there is a chance of showers or light rain. All trips will go out as scheduled if drizzly. If it rains while you are on the river, no monies will be refunded.
- We do NOT send trips out if there is an impending or current thunderstorm. If this occurs (as often happen during hot summer months), we hold the trip at our shop until we confirm it is safe to depart. We have multiple weather apps to monitor situations.
- In the event, we have heavy rains, and the river rises above safe levels, we will not allow departures to occur. In other words, we won’t put people on the water. If this occurs overnight, we may have to cancel trips the next day. We attempt to contact folks 1st via text, phone call 2nd, and lastly via email as soon as we know the river has risen above safe levels and we cannot operate. In this situation, customers can reschedule their trips to another date.
-
RFRR contacts our customers via text initially in the event of unsafe river levels or bad weather occurs. We must have the correct cell phone contact and accurate email address in order to contact you. We attempt to do this at least 2 hours prior to your departure time, so you don’t drive here to find your trip could not occur on the date and/or time scheduled.
-
No, I am sorry, we do not do that.
- RFRR is open Saturday and Sunday. Reservations are required.
- ALL Rocky Forest River Run trips are SELF-GUIDED unless the customer specifically requests someone to guide their trip in advance.
- Customers must arrive at least 20 minutes early to complete check-in and be fitted for your rental equipment. Folks with their own boats using the Shuttle service, need to arrive in 25 min. early to load your equipment on our trailer and complete the shuttle release form.
- Paddle at your leisure, but ALL boaters must return no later than 5:30 p.m. Sat & Sun, 7:00 p.m. on Friday and 20 min. prior to sunset when participating in a twilight run, to avoid a late return fee.
- Each trip rental includes: kayak, tube, or canoe with a life vest and paddle or oar(s) & the shuttle upstream.
- It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure all parties their group wear their life vest while on the river. Children ages 12 and under are required to wear life vests at all times while on waterways, per North Carolina law.
- For safety and liability children under the age of five (5) years old cannot be allowed in rental equipment. Thank you for understanding our concern for your and your child’s well-being.
- We do NOT shuttle other folks’ tubes or other inflatables.
- We cannot allow pets in our van due to cloth seats and allergies…sorry.
