All rentals include the vessel (kayak, canoe or tube), life vests, and paddles for boats, along with the shuttle upstream. Trip times depend on paddling styles, vessel & current water level. Shuttle only (those with their own vessel) include a shuttle upstream. We try to fit shuttles on our departures, but trips fill quickly, so it is best to book shuttle service at least 1 week in advance.
Please opt in to text and emails when booking and use cell numbers. When there is flooding or storms and we have to contact customers, we use text 1st, and email 2nd. You don’t want to miss an important message and show up expecting to get on the river on a day we cannot operate. Thanks for paying attention to this.
The favorite trip at RFRR is our short trip [Trip 1], which is about two hours. It is perfect for tubes or beginner kayakers. There are so many things to do Elkin, NC including breweries, local eateries, and hikes. We are located just a few miles down the river from downtown Elkin, so end your trip in town with a river journey. Our long trip [Trip 2] takes about half a day (approx 4-5 hrs). We have a nice dock on the river for our customers to exit kayaks and tubes. This makes getting out of the river much, much easier!

River levels in the Elkin area on the Yadkin are normally good. We always have water, when other rivers don’t. The link below to the Elkin Yadkin River gauge is set in an area that is normally shallow and does not represent river levels in all areas. Normal depths range from 1.5 – 6+ ft depending on rain and season.
